The BlackStar Film festival has announced a 2020 lineup that will include drive-in screenings, digital panels, parties, and conversations with filmmakers.

Billed as the world’s premiere celebration of Black, brown and Indigenous film and video artists, Philadelphia-based BlackStar was founded in 2012 by Maori Karmael Holmes as a single-day event, and has since blossomed into one of the most vibrant film festivals in the country. It has since received backing from HBO, Lionsgate, and the Knight Foundation.

This year BlackStar will provide ticket-holders with access to over 80 films through their online portal. Tickets are available for purchase now on BlackStar’s website.

Though it usually takes place in early August, it will run this year from Aug. 20-26, making several creative adjustments around COVID-19.

We are just done with our platform and can now accept Independent Film and TV productions. Our main idea was to create a streaming service were we support the Independent world and give them a place where they can get a fair business model and a fair amount of visibility, not having to compete with the major productions.
I don’t know if this counts as self-promotion, I hope not. We are really trying to help and make a change. It’s all created with our own work and money without any capital backing us up.

QuestionI’m just coming off of a grueling but auspicious 2.5 day shoot with a crew of 4 for a travel show pilot. There were a lot of unknowns surrounding our interviews and what our subjects were going to be comfortable sharing with us, but every single one (5 in total) gave us absolute gold. Like pieces of a complicated puzzle that just fell into place like magic. We’ve got around 16 cards in total (broll, drone, etc included) and I can’t wait to start editing simply because we have exactly what we need from those interviews.
TLDR: I’m riding high off of a great shoot and I want to hear your stories of how a great interview(s) pushed your project from good to amazing.

I'm editing a video and I put subtitles on it. But there's some shots where there's signs and lettering so the text isn't clear to read. I want to put a black or some kind of background or shading so the subtitles don't get lost. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!
